Happy Belated Birthday, Screamin' Jay!

"Jalacy Hawkins (July 18, 1929, Cleveland, Ohio — February 12, 2000, Paris, France), best known as Screamin' Jay Hawkins was an African-American musician, singer, and actor." What a way to go, eh?, Cleveland to Paris...

"screamin' jay hawkings interview on art fein's poker party" Hawkings! That would be a different guy!

"I Am The Cool"

Jim Jarmusch's "Mystery Train" (1989):
Steve Buscemi, Joe Strummer and Rick Aviles riding in a car, Screamin' Jay Hawkins and Cinqué Lee at the desk of a hotel, they all are listening to Elvis Presley on the radio.

Serena,
Stiv also went from Cleveland to Paris with similar results. (Well, Youngstown-ish to CLE to Paris, but you knew what I meant.)Itinerant Cleveland musicians take note...

PS Saw Screaming Jay down at Peabody's in the late 80's - sad to say, simply dreadful. Ugh.
